Hi Since you are doing most of your work in Windows I would use that as the host so you get the best performance. We use Virtual PC here and OS in those sessions only get access to 1 CPU and are not as fast as the main OS. I would install Windows Vista and develop in it as it uses RAM and extra CPUs much better than XP. Run Linux in a virtual machine if you need to. I believe Intel CPUs are offering the most 'bang' at the moment. Widows 7 should be out soon also, apparently the performance is much improved over any other recent Windows.
