I neither know nor care how much money Alternity makes relative to RIFTS.
Or, more to the point, doesn't make. What I am trying to point out (puff
puff) is that IF there are non-fantasy RPGs making serious amounts of money,
then perhaps WotC has as a goal the production of either a generic system or
mutiple systems, all using D20 rules and all with PHBs that the D20 license
demands we not duplicate bits of.
Sorry if I'm harping on about this. Can't help it.

I daresay that either one makes more money than the three you mentioned.
Alternity is dead, Cthulhu is very popular and very good, but a bit of a
'niche' game, and Champions...sigh. Champions has been on life support
(10 pts, only to keep from vanishing totally +1/2) for nearly five
years.
