At one end, you will have WotC's $20 handbook.  At the other end,
you will have zero cost, freely reproducible and easily downloaded
handbooks created by fans.  Some of them will be damn good.  

I suggest something in between is going to have to be extremely
outstanding to attract people away from the these two options.
