Very little?
Nearly every piece of executable software you can obtain comes with a
License Agreement.
I don't know if you've ever read one of them, but it's a document detailing
ALL of the strings attached to the piece of software. The L in GPL stands
for license.... Perhaps what we need is a clearer definition of what you
mean by 'string'?

Microsoft requires a license agreement if you use Microsoft tools, including
SDKs. Very little software comes without strings attached.
