Call me dumb but I'll buy it. Why? Because I bought the VERY first printing and I'm tired of referencing errata because of changes after my copy was publshed. Yes, some things are just errors and me paying bucks for a new version that fixes them is a lot like something Microsoft would do BUT RPGs also evolve and many changes (from what i can tell) are the "This is what we REALLY meant" and "Perhaps we should clarify this." Personally this is worth it to me. NOW, if it is like Earthdawn 2nd Edition (which I bought) that came out from Living Room Games which they proudly announced "You won't even know that it is a new edition" then I'll be disappointed. I want to SEE that they have fixed things and made clarifications/changes. Plus, throw in a couple pages of new content and I'll be happy.

OK, up until now, I've been treating this as rumor. Why? Because it just
sounded too DUMB to be true. But apparently, dumb wins.

Why dumb? Because it's just too soon. Maybe the changes will be good,
but it's too soon to expect people to buy a new book. Heck, I'm known
for irresponsible game purchases (the stories I could tell would be
embarassing), but even I won't be shelling out money for a book that
ISN'T a new edition, just tweaks and reorganization.

You say that I'm not their target audience? That they're trying to make
books that are friendlier and easier, to win over folks who aren't
buying because the books need better organization? Maybe. The PHB is a
massive bestseller already, though (as games go); so how large is that
market? And if it's NOT large, then they won't be able to get the volume
pricing that contributed to their initial sales success.

They've got better market research and sales figures than I do. They
probably know things I don't. But nothing about this makes sense to me.
