I have made attempts to contact second-tier Linux vendors, IBM, Red Hat, OSDL, and others. In those cases where I got a response, I was told to come to them when I have product in hand that they can buy. > > You could also find that kind of investor in the embeded market. An investor of any kind is not going to want to invest in something that's just going to be taken up by a competing company, causing them to lose their investment. No, I could not find that kind of investor. Now, if YOU can find that kind of investor, send him to me, and we'll talk. :) > > In that case, maybe they will be more sensitive of the cost saved by open > source the RTL ? I guarantee you that they would not. I have talked with investors, and they invariably rant on about how I have to have a value-add that gives me a HUGE competitive advantage over everyone else, otherwise we'll go out of bussiness in the first year like so many other start-ups. Indeed, they're even skeptical about the idea even without releasing the RTL. So, I have money people, something I can't build this product without, on the one side, telling me that I have to keep more things secret. On the other hand, I have open source zealots that I'm not giving away enough. And I'm caught in the middle, and you people need to give me some slack until you can give me well-thought-out business plans with spreadsheets, explanations of how the IP is protected, and everything. _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
