I'm pretty sure that it existe some code for "prototype" Id. Sell the card with that and provide a means to modify it by a programming interface.

Howard, Andy, and I may just have to bite the bullet, beg our wives, and spend the money ourselves. It's just that it doubles the cost of producing prototypes. We can use any vendor ID we want for prototypes, but we still have to spend that money for a legitimate membership before we get our first revenue. On further thought, though, it seems reasonable for them to charge a lot of money for membership.
