After watching the discussion on the list, we've come up with some ideas as to what we'd like to do with those extra 60 signals. Our plan B is to put on this $5 TV-in chip that Howard found. The ADV7401 and ADV7403 are nice, but we can't get open documentation on them, so they're out. We'll go with plan B if we cannot get the information we need on Gumstix (plan A) quickly enough. We've taken a look at some of the stuff at gumstix.com, and we have found that, due to the placement of the connector on OGD1, some boards will work, and some won't, but the key is that we and others can design more gumstix boards that will work with OGD1. This leaves open opportunity for video capture, ethernet, audio, perfboard/PTH, etc. We obviously have enough signal lines to support the gumstix 60-pin connector. Unfortunately, there are more interesting devices that require the 92-pin connector. So, first, how many of those 92 are actually digital signals (as opposed to power and ground)? If we cannot support them all, how many can we sacrifice and still remain reasonably compliant? Like, can we sacrifice some address lines? Now, with those sacrificed, what do we need to do with them? Allowing them to float is likely to be very bad, so we need to know if we have to tie them to 0 or 1. Or should we just go with the 60-pin and lose out things like ethernet? We've poked around on the gumstix site, but unfortunately, we have not been able to find the pinout. Due to time constraints, we need help with this. In short, this has the greatest chance of getting done if some people can basically just hand us the information we need on this. Which gender connector needs to go on OGD1? Male or female? We also need information on mounting holes, if there are any. One option we have is to use the gumstix connector but in a way that is not compatible with gumstix. Then we have to design all our own daughter boards. Opinions? Finally, there are 5 unused analog lines (R, G, B, H, V) in the DVI-I connector near where the gumstix connector would go. Are there any no-connect lines in the gumstix connector we can route those to so that, for instance, a video capture board would be entirely self-contained? We're burning time here. Our artwork guy is about ready to get started, so let's resolve this quickly. Thanks.
