I would go with this option. Put all signals we have, including
enough power and ground pins onto a DF12 connector with some mounting
holes. Then we could design later a break-out board that makes
our connector compatible to the gumstix connector. The advantage
of this would be, that we do not have to worry just now about
all the information we would need. Additionally we would get the ability
to just connect any gumstix board because we would get out of the
way of the OGD1 card. Also the break-out board would be quite cheap
as it would need only a single sided board in minimum, maybe a
double sided for better shielding (but no multi-layer) with two
DF12 connectors on it.

As i wrote in my previous mail, i would use the female ones,
labled "Header" in the Hirose documentation, respectively
those with the DF12....DP-0.5V part nummber. It would also
protect the sensitive FPGA inputs from touching and hence
from ESD (at least to some extend).

The male "Receptacle" (DF12...DS-0.5V) are easier to solder by
hand and thous should be on the extension board side.

This another reason why i would go for a different connector,
then we would also get those signals outside without much
trouble.
