SuperSockets are 3-4 times better on latency, which also shows in
application performance as we are currently measuring. Just to justify
our efforts...

Adapting the OpenFabrics stack to our hardware (as you more or less
propose) is a nice idea, but we have analyzed this and won't do this
for different reasons.
