I think that AppleScript in fact provides everything we need, except for
a graphical face. the syntax is near enough to identical, the object
model in Applescript is great. In some ways, cooperating with the Real
Basic dude (who lives in Australia) might be a great way forward:
capitalise on all of the construction tools they have already built, but
just make AppleScript the native dialect.
essentially, the only difference between Real Basic and our proposed Open
Talk is going to be that we can say
tell word 1 to set color to red
whereas they have to say
doc.cont.para.word.font.setColor(red)
or some other un-interpretable nonsense ;-)
