that gets into lots of trouble as contains now has to do double duty as a
question and as an action.

that is, your statement could either return false, or do an addition
becuase it conflates

set myVar to (5+7)
   and
(5+7) is in myVar

Even though the set syntax looks tedious, it is logical and easy to think
about. I vote we keep it.
