Dylan,

yes, that's what I meant originally, too. Guess we had a two-way
misunderstanding here. No problem.

Luckily, it seems as if wxWindows is cool enough to do most of the work
for us. Go to www.wxWindows.org and try it, tell me what you think. I'm
really glad we were pointed at that package.

You could use this to start implementing:

- a localization package, GNU gettext just doesn't cut it. Something simple
like the Mac's resource manager would be enough -- just get a string via an
ID number from a file, we don't need writing etc. as the files won't change
dynamically anyway. We don't need a facility to store menu bars as that'll
happen dynamically like in SuperCard or MetaCard if I get my way.

- an object-drawing package. Just a set of routines that use a wxWindows DC
to draw buttons, fields etc. with correct overlaping, that is, we have to
be able to redraw a single item quickly without it suddenly "jumping to
front". These routines would ideally support all field and button styles
HyperCard knows to date, with "standard" and "default" taking on native OS
look-and-feel

Of course, I don't want to go out and throw work at you. Pick whatever
you'd like to do. These are just two tasks no one is doing yet, and since
you asked and we have a cross-platform UI lib, I thought I'd offer you
those.

Cheers,
