Hello Suhaib,

I am very sorry, I have sent a wrong PATH on my previous mail. Here is
the detail of my exact PATH :

. -> personal add for current directory
$HOME/bin -> personal add for my utilities

/usr/bin -> from cygwin install add c:\cygwin\bin in default
cygwin.bat ( should it be /bin as / is mounted on c:\cygwin ??? )
/usr/local/bin -> from cygwin install add c:\cygwin\usr\local\bin in
default cygwin.bat

/cygdrive/c/WINDOWS                                -> default Win98
/cygdrive/c/WINDOWS/COMMAND         -> default Win98
/cygdrive/c/WINDOWS/SYSTEM/WBEM -> default Win98
MCAFEE path                                                -> default
Win98

/cygdrive/c/WIN32APP/SALFORD -> personal add for Salford ftn77

/usr/X11R6/bin -> personal add for compiling and running X11 codes after
Cygwin installation
/usr/local/lib -> personal add for compiling and running X11 codes
after Cygwin installation

/usr/local/dx/bin -> NEEDED TO RUN DX : running dx without this path
gives LIBR_HDF.DLL not found.

Do you think that this order is correct ?

I tried to add /usr/local/dx/bin_cygwin, but that does not change the
problem on libz.dll

Concerning libz.dll, I used WINDOWS explorer and found 3 items with this
name (4 items with find in Cygwin Window) :

/bin/libz.dll and /usr/bin/libz.dll which seem to be identical with
63336 bytes size. ( In fact /bin and /usr/bin seem to be linked, am I
right ?). These two ones are coming from the Cygwin Installation. Why
for ?

/usr/local/X11R6/bin/libz.dll (new binary downloaded today) and
/usr/local/dx/bin/libz.dll coming from dx installation seem to be
identical with 40960 bytes size.

I understand that dx will use /bin/libz.dll or /usr/bin/libz.dll as
being the first in my path, but how can I tell dx to use the right
version ? I could replace libz.dll in /bin and /usr/bin but what would
be the Cygwin behaviour in this case ? Also I tried to put
/usr/local/dx/bin at the top of my path, but in this case I can't start
dx (error : not found). Really I have a problem with my path.

I have seen a demo of DX on another computer, and I really would like to
install it on my PC. As I told you on the Cygwin-Xfree mailing list, I
am not very easy with system administration and I greatly appreciate
your help. Thanks again.
