Depends on how you classify the community and where you feel the most benefit
is.

Infrastructure, process and people. I don't think we're anywhere near the shape
we need to be to create a fun, diverse community until those elements are in
place.
Some rather obvious examples -
Infrastructure:
o No current public source code management for ON / others [1]
o Web infrastructure is still 'closed'
o No wiki infrastructure that allows *everyone* to contribute
directly to opensolaris.org, rather than the few token 'Leaders'
o Poor bug tracking tools
Process
o Open ARC process still undefined/clear
o CAB formed 1 year+ ago, yet still no governance model, or idea
of more formal membership for the project
o Private program-team conference calls
People
o Perhaps fewer than like community code contributions
o Ratio of numbers of Sun developers working out in the open
compared to closed is still relatively low
o Few community champions that people can follow and learn from
All of the above is an absolutely poor indication of the rocking jobs that
everyone have been doing, and the success of the project over the last year or
two. However, out of all these areas that are known right across the community,
how many of them are a hindrance to community participation? and discouragement
to finding the next Bryan Cantrill?
Glynn
[1] I know, I know we're really close to this, it was just an obvious
example of how things *currently* are, and the challenges we have
ahead of us
