My apologies if posting in multiple forums is prohibited, but I found this
forum after already posting in another one and it appears I should have
posted in this forum to begin with. Below is my post.

---------------------

Hello,

I've been working with Windows ever since Windows 3.0. Before that it was
MS-DOS, all the way back to 3.22. Linux/Unix always seemed foreign to me.
(Mind you that the last time I looked at any kind of Linux/Unix system,
there was no GUI - that I knew of.)

With that said, I've decided to expand my knowledge and start playing with a
Linux/Unix operating system, and OpenSolaris seemed like the best fit for
me.

I've installed the 2008.05 build on my old Dell Inspiron 600m, which uses an
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG card. The OS comes with NWAM enabled, and I can't
seems to get the OS to recognize the card. I'm guessing it doesn't have the
correct driver.

Now, as I mentioned already - this is my very first attempt at using a
Linux/Unix OS. (BTW - Is OpenSolaris Linux or Unix - and what's the
difference - (great - now you really know how much of a newbie I am).)
Anyway - being that I've never used OpenSolaris or any similar OS before,
how exactly do I find, install & configure the driver? I can transfer it to
the laptop via a USB stick once I download it. But then what?

As a side note - I've always felt that no matter what your OS, anti-virus
software should be installed. Can someone point me to an Open Source A/V
application that I can install and run on OpenSolaris?

Thanks in advance!

-Matt
