Hi

To start, please don't compose posts in HTML. It makes it difficult for people
using the forum. Plain text is the preferred medium.

2200BG is supported with wpi driver. I have the same in my Acer 4002
Travelmate. Perhaps it is an issue with encryption configuration. Let us know
what kind of encryption is in play (mine works with WEP with a netgear router).
I'd suggest trying with encryption disabled for a while to diagnose the
problem. The driver should work right with either WPA or WEP.

It's a very valid question. The difference between UNIX and Linux is
substantial. Linux is a UNIX clone inspired by MINIX - a UNIX clone developed
for educational purpose by Andy Tanenbaum - Linus Torvald's professor. UNIX
predates it, but moden UNIX as you see it, is fairly recent phenomenon.

The wikipedia article on Solaris (from which OpenSolaris has come from) is
extremely informative. I'd suggest reading that and the one on UNIX.

You don't need one (yet and in near future).

There is no known (none I know) virus or trojan on OpenSolaris. It is a fairly
recently opensourced UNIX that was/is used usually on big iron. It comes has
security hardened profiles built-in which you can activate as per your need.

UNIX has very different security model. Usual user is limited in common actions
he/she can do. Additional things affecting whole system need root access, so
attack surface is quite limited as opposed to windows where common model is a
user with "Power User" or Administrator equivalent access.
