You can blame all this on Microsoft, Apple and yourself, not Sun.  Those other 
companies'
filesystems are proprietary and Sun is not going to be inviting lawsuits.  And 
-you- placed
your files on those filesystems.

Call Mr. Ballmer and tell him to publish all details of NTFS.

And you would have no trouble moving files between those systems and Solaris 
across
a network.  Sun includes Samba with Solaris and Solaris Express and makes it 
available
for OpenSolaris.
