"Microservices" is the latest hype in the DevOps world. You run small networked services in their own Docker containers, and then use programmable Load Balancers and other tricks to treat your machines like "cattle" instead of "pets". Search "Microservices" on YouTube and you will find many excellent explanations of the details.
