Hello, I wonder if we could facilitate the installation of any OSCAR server on any distribution without doing our own OSCAR distribution ?
Why not provide a very extensive list of rpm for the server ? This list will automatically be installed (if necessary) from the /tftpboot/rpm directory before any OSCAR operation. This list should be a "typical" OSCAR-headnode install and would be listed in the oscarsamples/distro-version-headnode.rpmlist It will include services required by OSCAR, libraries & co required by OSCAR packages. With this "middle" solution, we are not doing any dependency checking but we are certain that an OSCAR head node will have at least the RPM required by the current OSCAR ? Another solution is automatic dependency checking. It can be complicated and even not-functionnal because some RPMs packages provided by the distro are broken. Anyway, I really believe that using an existing tool (urpmi/autoupdate) can solve 99.9% of the problems... Ben -- Benoit des Ligneris Etudiant au Doctorat -- Ph. D.
