Partly i understand your worries.
But if you really need to write ActionScript, because you are doing it 
commercially, you can easily buy a license of Flexbuilder and do so. 
There is no need for an alternative tool, which basically imitates what 
already exists. Or maybe somebody else implements OS AS3 - MTASC makes 
up a good foundation to learn from.

Apart from that - open source is driven by personal interests. If 
Nicolas is interested in implementing a whole new plattform, no argument 
will change his mind.
