[osflash] MTASC error

Being a first-time user of MTASC, I am getting a puzzling error saying there is a problem with line 8 in my class file:

“Type error class not found: mx.controls.List;”

In the problem class.as file, I have on line 1:

import mx.controls.List;

and further down on the apparently problematic line 8 I have:

private var selection_list:List;

any clues on what might be happening? I am using FLASC to run MTASC if that makes any difference. Thanks,
