Hi Bob and J-S, The current stereo support assumes a powerwall setup, so while easy to use isn't that generic.
For generic support one needs to manage things at a higher level - up in osgViewer as I've done with the spherical display support. My plan is to move stereo support entirely within osgViewer and with it provide the viewer configuration support required. Robert.
