Gordon, J-S, Sergey,

My apologies about the licensing, I could have sworn FFTW was LGPL! I should
have double checked that.

But yes I agree that this is a problem, one which I would like to avoid as it
clearly limits it's usage.

In light of this I think what I shall do is find another library and change the
back end code. It's not really a huge change, but i'll get on it as soon as I
can.

Obviously the speed differance is a bit of a issue, I'll do a bit of
investigation into FFT libraries and see what can be done. I think for many
applications a precomputed ocean animation would probably be ok, but it would
be nice to have dynamic effects.

Really though I think if that is the direction it's heading I will have to look
at other more effecient techniques for generating the ocean geometry.
Generating 64x64 grids of FFTs 25-30 times a second takes up a quite a
signficant percentage of CPU time and I suspect this overhead would put people
off using it in a real-time context when the alternatives are much quicker.

Sergey - thanks Im checking out Kiss FFT at the moment.

So don't panic I'll get on it! :)

Regards,

Kim.

Same for us which is why I'm trying to help find a solution for that :-)

Sorry Kim I hadn't thought of looking into FFTW's licensing terms...
