The amount of details is only one of the many reasons why rendering in 
Osmand is so slow. The other reasons are that the engine uses only one core 
of today's standard 8 core CPUs. The second even more important reason is 
that the rendering is SW only. It doesn't use the extremely powerful GPU of 
our phones at all. The rendering speed could probably be many times faster 
without loosing any details if these 2 features will get implemented.

Other optimizations like displaying lees details when using car navigation 
would help too.
