Hi Tammy,

I don't know how common it is... but there seems to be more positions for OTs right now than there are OTs (at least in my city). I wasn't able to accept a full time position I was offered because I am already working two other places... so I suggested that they hire a COTA and offered to supervise them. I pointed out that it would save them money. I know that some home health care agencies in this area use OTs for the evals and COTAs to do the actual home visits. If you are interested in doing something like that, you might try suggesting it to places looking for OTs.

Sorry I can't help you with the olfactory defensiveness...

I, too, would like to know about this. I am one of those who has too much time on her hands, so she fills it with jobs...three at one time is my personal best!! LOL

I am sorry that I cannot contribute with a response, but I would like to know if this is something that is common, as I have concerned doing this type of thing, too.

Also, I had posted a request for information on working with kids who are olfactory defensive and picky eaters. Any suggestions are very much appreciated!!

Thanks!
Tammy

I posted this before.. but there were very few people on the list
so I am going to give it another shot... (my apologies to those of you
who have already read it.. and read it)

I was offered a third job (as if the two I already have aren't enough).
They want to know what I would charge, and I don't have a clue what to ask
for...

I would be doing evals, goals, treatment plans, and a COTA would be doing
the actual treatments (when I am not in the building). We agreed on a set
fee for
the evals, etc, but they asked how much I would charge for a "supervisory fee"
(aka allowing the COTA to work unded my license). They suggested 15% of
collections
(as opposed to what they actually bill), but I don't know if that is a fair
and reasonable fee.

Is anyone out there doing this type of thing? How do you charge for your
services?

Pat
