Hey..I am in NC but I meant that I hope certification is not required to use the modalities to be certified...I guess some states like yours do require it...nc doesn't as of yet...I don't mind going to courses yearly to keep updated but in my situation I don't work with a PT or anyone regularly that could observe and verify competence. I have been an OT for 20 years and have used modalities and I certainly wouldn't use those I have not used in the past. The certification that I know people have attended require that a PT or certified OT observe and document competence prior to certification.... I don't think that certification and modality use would be required to be an OT.... just my thoughts.....thanks Lisa Sloan, OTR/L Home Health and Nursing Home Practice
