Title: Re: Birthing Stool Policy
and yet the stranded beetle requires none of this scrutiny!

The ‘stranded beetle’ position (love the imagery of that name – and it is a very ‘scrutinous’ position really, isn’t it?) doesn’t put any of the attending professional’s backs out, does it? I mean, if you want to check a woman on a birth stool’s dilation, or break her waters, etc, how do you do that??? It would be sort of like ‘Twister’ the party game – which I personally love! No wonder women want to use birth stools... Less of those invasive examinations/interventions if you aren’t in an easily accessible position!

But, seriously, it’s all about loss of control, isn’t it? Fear of litigation... Sad.

Birthing Beautifully,
Jackie Mawson.

Too many Gods;
            so many creeds,
            Too many paths
             that wind and
                 wind,
            When just the art
             of being kind
             Is all the sad
              world needs...
