I would rather *not* see a separation. Personally, I am very experienced in C and C++ programming and very experienced in event-driven software design (both Windows and OS/2), but I happen to be new to the Pilot platform. In which category do I fit? When do I change from one to the next? Finally, if there are multiple lists, some would probably subscribe to all of them, and posts would start getting mixed up. Or, there would have to be restrictions in place which would raise the frustration factor. My vote: (like someone else said,) it doesn't seem to be (all that) broken, so don't fix it.
