hi!

i think everyone is missing the point here.

there are an abundance of programming languages, some good, some
bad.. anyone who has done a computer science course understands
most of the differences between a good language and a bad language,
however it comes down to personal preference, and the ability to
  get the job done.

i dont favour any particular language for the palm.

however, i am a Java person.. Java is my life, i teach it at the
university, and i think it is one of the best "advances" in
the computer science arena since the introduction of C.

  BUT... for the PalmOS?

interesting discussion.. i have no intention, or desire to
use the Java programming language on the PalmOS. why?

check out the flaws for Java.

   a) requires a JVM installed
   b) the .class file can be EASIALLY decompiled into readable
Java code (do a web search for "mocha" - a Java decompiler)

of course Java is great.. easy to program etc. etc.. however
until a Palm unit comes out with over 16Mb of RAM.. i am not
  going to bother..

3Com chose CodeWarrior as the basis for development, all code
  being written in C..

use whatever you think is "appropriate" at the time.

if you think "i should go to Java eventually", then write
C.. but program it with the intention that you will eventually
move to Java.. (ie: dont do anything cryptic)

i dont see a future (in the next year) for Java on the PalmOS.
but that does not mean i give up one it completely.

lets not start a language war here? we have heard them many
  over and over again..

az.
