Firstly I'd like to apologize for this being off topic, I thought this was
on the ultraviolet list. But it's the weekend so what the heck..

Anyhow I was under the impression that this is a time where companies are
adopting an anything goes attitude in regards to developing things that
work. The wonderful part of what Linux and Palm is about is that they mean
so many things to different people. An interesting side effect of the
diversity of its contributors -- a melting pot of engineers, consultants,
investors, and of course users like me who just love the products.

It's such a change from just a year or two ago where vaporware and promises
were all that came out of companies. So my surprise that 3Com is being so
conservative with their IPO policy is because it implies that they aren't
trying to get this puppy into the next level of development. This stuff is
great, you know it and I know it but why such weak (non-existant) investor
relations to the developers and advocates.

We've all seen cool products fail in the marketplace, and IMO it is because
the creator fails to keep up a rapid pace of product improvement --
obviously the definition of "improved" is very subjective and is best
explored by letting others have the freedom to develop and build things that
work for them and their customers. Now regarding the IPO I just don't see
why anyone would want to squelch such a powerful synergy when things are
just getting started.
