$15 for VB and VC???? Maybe in the UK, but not in the US. Full versions of
those products are $480 each. Additionally, back when it was called Win CE
(I don't know if this is still true - perhaps that's what you can get for
$15), you still had to get the add-ons for those products to write Win CE
programs (additional $), and they only ran on a Windows NT box (another
investment if you didn't happen to have one). $300 for a polished and
complete IDE is a good deal by US standards.
(Please let me know if you can really get a compiler for $15 in the UK -
Thanks)

In the UK price for IIIc ~ 300, price for iPaq ~ 420, is
120 worth the
extra CPU speed, sound, and 32mb RAM (compare to 8mb on
IIIc).
IMHO Yes I think the iPaq is well worth the price.
You also have to consider the price of the dev. tools. MS
are saying you get
the version of VB and VC++ for the price of the CD ($15).
While the palm
"offical" dev tool (Code warrior) costs $300+.
You can get the GCC compiler, but the version I use (links
from
www.vfdide.com) seems to be very difficult to set up, as I
only have a Palm
III, and need to use the older SDK.

BTW The iPaq Pocket PC OS uses a handwritting system very
similer to that on
the Palm. I was able to enter data in to a HP machine
(running same OS) with
no problems at all.
