The issue is not necessarily democracy as it is about the disarticulation of the African political economy - there is no reciprocity in the different sectors of the African political economic systems. In fact, we produce what we do not consume and consume what we do not produce, this is surely a contradiction in terms, our economic systems are designed in such a way as (in the words of Jaki Seroke) to protect settler interests with the backing of international capital in the form of the so-called multinational corporations - your International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Thus the entire African political elites are merely co-managing the state together with transnational corporations (so-called multinational corporations) on behalf of Western Capital or settler colonialism. Like I've already indicated above, we (African countries) are export-led economies, as we export our commodities as raw materials (thus exporting jobs in the process) and import them as finished goods at exorbitant prices, thus importing inflation in a way.
