With EXE you are out of luck about 90% of the time. EXEs are usually 
executable programs. Sometimes they are self extracting ZIPs, in 
which case you can brute force em open with Stuffit. That doesn't 
mean anything inside it is useful though. :) Don't feel too bad 
though, most EXEs you receive in email from PC folks are viruses 
(virii?) anyway.

PPS files are PowerPoint presentations. You aren't missing much. 
Seriously. If you just have to look at it, supposedly Microsoft 
offers a free PowerPoint viewer on their website somewhere.

DOC is easy. DOCs are usually Microsoft Word documents. A bunch of 
free word processors should be able to import them. BBEdit, Nisus, 
WordPerfect, etc. Some do it better than others. Some DOC files are 
Word macro viruses too, but they are fairly harmless on a Mac.
