I have never used the Mac version of the Office viewers (As my Macs all have
MS office) but I have used the Windows version on a few occasions, and I'm
sure I didn't need office to use them. Wouldn't that kind of defeat the
purpose? What I mean is, if you had Office 98, then you would have
PowerPoint 98 included with that, so you wouldn't really need the free
Powerpoint viewer; it would be redundant.
PS In a perfect world, we wouldn't need it because they would all be
self-contained little slideshows, as is possible, I think, much like
self-extracting zips/stuffs. Sigh, maybe in awhile it will be like that.
