.exe is usually a program. You need Virtual PC to open 'em. However, i
think that there is some type of compression that is .exe (I am not
sure.)  Sometimes .exe attachments are viruses (virii).

.pps  is power point. Microsoft has a free PowerPoint viewer,
downloadable at their web site, but Hard to find. Hopefully someone will
post the direct URL to the download.

.doc is a document. Usually microsoft word (?always Word?)(someone on
this list will know.). I use Word 5.1a to open  .doc stuff, cuz 5.1a is
non-crashy. Another way to open might be AppleWorks. Try drag and drop. 

MacLinkPlus 11 (if you can still find it) is an old program that helps
get some of these things opened. Version 11 is nice and cheep. i saw it
for sale on the net somewhere for $30, a few days ago.
