What makes them ignorant? Is it the fact that they don't use Macs, or are
they ignorant of the fact that you don't have a word processor program? :)
Just kidding. Microsoft offers free viewers for Office Documents
(Powerpoint, Word, Excel) at www.mactopia.com plus I think they can all be
downloaded from www.download.com . You are screwed on the .exe files unless
you have a Windows-based OS (real or emulated) to run them on.
Remember, there's nothing wrong with naming conventions, it actually makes
things much easier. Funnyjoke.doc or funnyjoke.jpg are a lot simpler to
find a way to open (no matter what your OS) than if the file is just called
funnyjoke, don't you think? I've always felt that was a shortcoming of Mac
OS (one of the very few bad ones) that you have no idea which program a file
belongs to if the icon is not there, or if you don't already have a program
associated with that file type.
