By "it won't let" you install OS 9, what do you mean? Is there a 
specific error code or error message it gives you?

Some of the Install/Restore CDs are coded to only install on machines 
with specific Gestalt IDs; That is, they will only install on 
machines just like or very close to the system they shipped with. 
Usually, this will result in a message saying something like "This 
version of Mac OS will not install on this machine." The install CDs 
come with a version of the Mac OS ROM file intended for the computer 
the CD shipped with.
