UltraWide 160 is a very fast SCSI LVD style bus which uses either 68-pin or 80-pin SCA cabling. The drives are very expensive unless you can find a second hand source and are really wasted unless you can find a PCI UW-160 SCSI card. You can get adapters to run them on a 50-pin internal Apple Fast SCSI-2 bus but it's not really worth it. I have one in my 840av (yes it's a 68k Mac don't laugh) which may soon be joined by a second one (I have it it's just my friend is deciding wether he wants it to go with his 18GB UW160 drive). They are wicked fast if attached to the right hardware and ideal for handling RAW video or compressing on the fly. If you want to use your 7500 for AV work it'd be worth getting one if you think you can afford the lay out. otherwise don't blow the cash to buy a drive and adapter to use on the Mac's 50-pin bus, you'll only disappoint yourself. -- -- Mark Benson Any spelling errors are attributed to PEBKAC SilValleyPirate - AIM silicon_valley_pirate_uk - Yahoo!
