>I most definitely need to use my Mac 7500 for A/V work.
Get a FireWire PCI card, you can then use DV cameras in Mac OS X. >I am upgrading to G3 or G4 with Final Cut Pro. G4, if you use FCP get a G4, I can not emphasise enough how much you need a G4. Also if you get a G4 you might consider getting a large pile of EDO RAM for the machine and running Mac OS X. It can be done and with a G4 450 it's very usable too. This would let you use Final Cut Pro 3 which is a godly Video editing suit. >Can you recommend a good drive and a PCI UW-160 SCSI card? Good drive - Seagate Cheetahs, 10,000 rpm, fast quiet, I have one and it's gorgeous. As for the card I'd recommend an ACARD UW-160 card. I dunno where you'd get one though as I'm a UK person not in the US. My friend has an ACARD UW-2 SCSI card (one speed bump down from UW 160 IIRC) and a Cheetah 18GB and it runs flawlessly in OS 9 and OS X. >Would this be a PCI card and an external HD? No, it's easily fitted inside the machine. There is a severe limit to how long external LVD cables can be too so externals are usually on very short SCSI cables. Internals are much easier. >I am a bit of a newbie, I need help learning how these things go together! I do all my AV work on a Quadr 840av, I'm just spewing out the best of my limited knowledge (and trying to get you to spend hideous amounts of cash at the same time). -- -- Mark Benson Any spelling errors are attributed to PEBKAC SilValleyPirate - AIM silicon_valley_pirate_uk - Yahoo!
