i have a lacie 4x usb cd burner, and it definatly does have to connect directly to the mac, no hub or coaster city! it cant keep up the rate of transfer well enough to burn anything at 4x unless its plugged directly into hte mac, which is annoying, but not life ending. my scanner and web cam also both have to be plugged directly into hte mac for them to work, i have just come to accept that with usb, timing and power sensitive devices go striaght to the mac when in use, when not, they sit there resting 8) I also have a lacie 4x scsi burner that works great chained with other devices and stuff. my
