Could it be unsuitable for use with OSX? With 9.1 and 8.6.1 it moved 
all of the Mac scripts to Extensions Disabled and all of the 
MacModemMagic scripts appeared where they should have been. MMM's 
Read Me claims an improvement from 32000 to up to 49000. It doesn't 
claim to double the real speed.
