I created a mess one time where bogus serial port/sharing messages would later happen while I was working in a totally unrelated Graphics program. Since I stopped using my own name as the "owner" of both machines (cause they are both mine) with of course a different password for each, I haven't had any more trouble. Lately I've shared 7.6.1 on my Quads with 7.5.3 on a Powerbook; and 8.6 on this 9500 with the Quads and Powerbook without a flicker. Use your first name for one computer's owner and your middle name for the other one's "owner" and have the name of each computer the same name as it's hard drive; different passwords for each.
