Many thanks!
Herb and Mr. Illovox
. . . of the hydrodynamic amplifier
and Bruce

Wasn"t as stupid as I thought and did most of those scenarios
you've laid out. . .
I tried C-key boots through 4 good booting CD's - Warrior, etc.
The OS 9 Panel would come up, start to fill, after a quarter inch
seem to stall. . . (going after extensions?)
Then it starts trying to load extensions,
It mounts these extension icons:
Apple Guide, and two of those quick time lightening extensions,
then nothing but the boot CD's unique desktop, the cursor
and the bare-bones time of the day - The clock time seemed eratic?
the cursor not frozen - extension icons gone.

Zapped the PRAM. (disconnected the SCSI external first.)

Here's a clue MacSleuths

With each subsequent attempt at re-entry
(tried the "disable the HD"- keyboard commands too)
the startup chime got fainter and fainter till inaudible.

If it's the Pram battery I'm not long for this world!

The Finder prefs. heads-up I like. . .
Cause I did install a finder but I hadn't heard from him in ten days
as he worked away with Illustrator10 . . . and 250 RAM??
Says he's looking at 3 lost hours of design work that he had neglected
to save. . . . he's used to his Power Tower Clone never crashing on 8.6.

Is it possible that if the finder Prefs were seriously corrupt
and I changed the Finder, but negled to change the prefs, that the
faulty Preference file could have corrupted the new Finder file-
as well as remained damaged itself?
In which case if I change the Finder Prefs I should change the Finder (again).
I did replace the Preferences once for sure, but BEFORE I replaced the Finder.

Some kind soul said, "CROSSED FILES". . . I like it!!
Warren mentioned his accidently doubling up on his
Illustrator vector files. . . . As you now know, he does those things,
yet if you look at his website you can get an idea of how well he knows
Illustrator.

So anyway still not even inside, and waiting for Radio Shack to open.
Could a G3 B&W be that dependent on the Pram Battery.

Learn and Live,

Thanks men,
I really appreciate the greatness in Lowend Lists
with their fearless and trusty leader
Dan Knight. . .

I can hear the cheers already!

Terry
