The only thing which comes to mind is the G4's Altivec technology ... 
something IBM stated that they would never include in one of their own 
processors, although the PPC architecture belongs to IBM, lock, stock and 
barrel.

IBM has gone way beyond the G3 and G4, and I guess Apple now realizes they 
are now way behind the "power curve" ... the "PowerPC Curve", that is.

IBM has been selling super-performance PPC-type processors which easily 
outperform the G4 for years now, but IBM some time ago decided that their 
applications ... and the applications of their licensees (other than Apple) 
... did not need nor did they want Altivec.

Perhaps Apple has come to their senses?
