Ever see a Model Z100Si (it's Iomega's P/N 02902D01) ... it's the most common internal model ... sold at retail as a bare drive, and also included at the factory in certain Macs (8600/300, 9600/300, Beige G3 w/UW-SCSI, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera)? The jumper block supports: 1) Term ON/OFF, 2) Addr 0 (2^0) ON/OFF, 3) Addr 1 (2^1) ON/OFF, and 4) Addr 2 (2^2) ON/OFF. Jumper settings for SCSI IDs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are shown on the drive's indicia. Term OFF and SCSI ID 5 are the factory settings, with a jumper (really, it's a "shunt") being installed in the Addr 2 and Addr 0 positions. I have these drives both with and without the Apple logo on them. I have NO doubt that SCSI ID 0 would work, but I haven't tried that specific ID. On my G3-equipped 9150, SCSI IDs 0, 3 and 6 are already used by the standard hard drive (SCSI ID 0, changeable by a switch), the standard CD-ROM (SCSI ID 3, not changeable without removal, and installation/removal of "shunts") and the standard DDS-2 tape (SCSI ID 6, changeable by a switch). SCSI ID 1 is "reserved" for the optional second hard drive, and some 9150s are provided with two 2 GB drives for a total of 4 GB. My 9150 was provided with one 4 GB drive. Oh, yes, in my 9150, the Zip drive replaces the standard floppy drive, using a special SCSI cable adapter of my own design. Peter. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
