When I first got my 8600/250 a few months ago the fac. zip had the same problem. The drive would not mount and I would have a lot of clicking. I found a web site that stated setting the scsi id to something other than 5 (I set mine to 4) would fix the click of death. The drive now works great with no problems whatsoever.
