Victoria, Sounds like the monitor. I used a $20 adapter to connect my 6100/66/DOS to my NEC Multisync and it works like a charm. Try these guys. This is where I got mine. http://www.griffintechnology.com/
STeve << IIRC mine cost close to *$60* -- it certainly had all the dip switches, little wheel, etc, and since the plug at the Mac end was unique to the 6100 I had just been given (sans monitor or adapter) quite hard to find. No combination of switches or wheel settings improved the picture past the tolerable stage -- perhaps the monitor itself (or rather themselves, I tried two different ones) was to blame.
