I think every time I've fixed/replaced the cables on non-mac mice
they've worked again...  It might the cables, or the socket.  
I don't think I've repaired any ADB mice.

Since it's a PCI powermac, I'd probably go to a USB card and mouse--
new ADB mice are getting expensive and hard to find.  Besides, the
new optical mice are *so* nice.  Especially those with a scroll wheel.
