I'm partial to my upgraded 9600's and have no intention of
giving them up. I use a USB card and Microsoft Optical Mouses (The
Microsoft mouses give me multiple programmable buttons and a scroll
wheel and cost a fraction of the Apple Pro Mouse-got my last
Microsoft optical mouse for $10. with rebate) on all my 9600's. The
optical mouses are much better than the old USB mouse for accuracy
and control. And there is no ball to get dirty and require cleaning.
My solution to the above noted frustration is to leave my
Apple ADB mouse plugged in as well. I use the optical mouse most of
the time and grab the ADB mouse when I'm started up from a CD and the
optical mouse USB extensions are not running.
Both mouses work at the same time and it is no problem having
them both hooked up.
